Claims military lands were given to Ibrahim Mahama are false – Brogya Genfi

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has dismissed claims that military lands have been allocated to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, describing the reports as “false and misleading.”

In a Facebook post on April 29, 2026, he stated: “I wish to firmly dismiss and ignore any false and malicious reports suggesting that military lands have been given to the President’s brother to develop. That story is completely untrue.”

Mr. Genfi clarified that the issue relates to a redevelopment project by the Ghana Armed Forces at Burma Camp, aimed at replacing ageing colonial-era structures with modern accommodation for personnel.

He explained that the initiative forms part of a self-help housing programme supported by private contributions, including a donation from Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Dzata Group.

“In support of this noble initiative, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama has generously donated GH¢120 million as part of the replacement programme,” he said.

The funds will reportedly go into constructing 10 residential blocks, each with 16 housing units, to improve living conditions for military personnel.

Mr. Genfi stressed that the project does not involve any transfer or allocation of military lands to private individuals, but is strictly an infrastructure upgrade initiative.

He urged the public to disregard the claims, noting they are intended to create unnecessary suspicion around a welfare-driven project.
