The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has disclosed that the Price waterhouse Coopers (PwC) audit report on the controversial National Cathedral project has uncovered massive rot and financials breaches. Dr. Ayine has revealed the report of a special audit commissioned after the Mahama administration took over was presented to him last Friday.
According to him, the report reveals staggering amounts of money spent on the project, funds which he said could have been channeled into completing some of the Agenda 111 hospitals.
Speaking at the district launch of the Free Primary Health Care programme in the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Ayine did not mince words in calling out the officials of the Nana Addo administration for the poor handling of the project.
President Akufo-Addo put together a Board of Trustees made up of some prominent members of the clergy to oversee the project. The project was however stuck at the foundation stage despite the huge sums of money sunk in before the NPP lost power in 2024. Around $58 million on design, consultation, and initial foundation works with an outstanding additional $39 million owed to the primary contractor.
