AFLAG Awards: Sam George Celebrates Wife Vera George for Winning Humanitarian Heroine of the Year

The Chief Executive Officer of the Dzata Foundation, Vera George, has been honoured as the Humanitarian Heroine of the Year at the prestigious AFLAG Awards, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to social impact and community upliftment.

The Dzata Foundation, serving as the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Ningo-Prampram MP and Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has been widely praised for its interventions in health, women’s empowerment, education, and social protection.

Vera George received the award on Saturday, November 15, 2025, to resounding applause, as colleagues, partners, and beneficiaries celebrated her leadership and dedication.

Her husband, Sam George, who accompanied her to the event, also took to social media to publicly celebrate this milestone.

“Last Saturday, I was proud to accompany my lovely Vera, the exceptional CEO of the Dzata Foundation – the CSR wing of my office as MP – to pick up an award as the Humanitarian Heroine of the Year at the #AFLAGAwards.

“It was a proud moment to see the extraordinary work Vera and her team put in being recognised and celebrated. She and her team deserve the flowers they are getting for the many lives they are touching and transforming.”

The award cements Vera George’s growing reputation as one of Ghana’s most influential humanitarian leaders. Through the Dzata Foundation, she has spearheaded multiple life-changing initiatives — from supporting vulnerable families to empowering young girls and improving access to basic social services across several communities.

Under her leadership, the foundation has championed education, livelihood empowerment, and humanitarian relief, including building classroom blocks, providing bursaries, supporting flood victims, and promoting menstrual hygiene among students. Known for her hands-on approach and focus on sustainable community development, Vera has become a leading figure in local philanthropy, earning recognition for her contributions to Ghanaian society.

Vera George expressed gratitude to her team, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, saying the award motivates her to “do even more for the people who need it most.”
