Family demands answers after Newborn Suffers Deep Cut During Cesarean at Jasikan District Hospital

A joyous moment turned into heartbreak for a family in the Oti Region when their newborn baby reportedly sustained a severe cut near the right ear during a cesarean delivery at Jasikan District Hospital. What’s more shocking? The family says hospital staff never mentioned the injury — not a word before sending them home.

According to distraught relatives, the delivery seemed routine, and the hospital reassured them that mother and child were both fine. But once they left the hospital, their joy quickly turned to horror as they discovered a deep wound on the side of their baby’s tiny head.
“The doctor and the hospital didn’t tell us anything. We were only told the baby was fine, but when we saw the wound later, we were heartbroken and confused,” a family member recounted.

The baby has now been rushed to Mary Theresa Catholic Hospital in Dodi Papase, Kadjebi District, where she’s receiving urgent care. Father Divine Agede remains cautiously hopeful as his daughter responds to treatment.
The family is demanding answers: How did this happen? Why were they kept in the dark? And why was such a serious injury hidden from them before discharge?
As tensions rise, Jasikan District Hospital remains silent, with no official statement released to address the troubling incident.
