Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service have successfully extinguished a fire outbreak at the Mallam Atta Market in Accra, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

According to a statement from the Ghana Fire Service, a distressed call was received on November 12, 2025, and the first appliance from the National Headquarters, led by ADO I Ahoni, arrived at 2302 hours. Crews from Circle and Flagstaff House Fire Stations joined at 2313 hours and 2329 hours, respectively, to reinforce firefighting operations.

The fire was brought under control at 0001 hours and completely extinguished at 0024 hours. Twelve (12) wooden structures, six (6) used as dwellings and six (6) as shops, were destroyed, while a 40-foot container used as a cold store was partially burnt.

However, several adjoining structures were salvaged from total fire ruins due to the firefighters’ swift and tactical response. No injuries were recorded, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
