The Chairman of the National Peace Council, who also serves as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd), on Sunday, August 10, paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to mourn with them following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight government officials.
During his visit to the party’s headquarters, he signed the book of condolence and offered prayers for the nation, the President, the leadership of the party, and the families of the deceased.
He was received by Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Mr. Godwin Ako Gunn, Deputy Communications Officer, and Madam Vida Addae, Director of Welfare.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah, Executive Director for Prayer and Thanksgiving, expressed appreciation for the prayers and words of comfort shared by the Christian Council Chair.
The visit follows the August 6, 2025, crash of a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter, which went off radar shortly after departing Accra for Obuasi at 09:12 GMT. The aircraft was later found in a remote area near Adansi in the Ashanti Region.
