Government, through the Ghana Cocoa Board, has announced that the producer price of cocoa for the 2026 Light Crop Season will remain unchanged, even as international cocoa prices continue to fall.
According to a statement issued on Friday, June 12, the decision is aimed at protecting cocoa farmers from global market volatility and safeguarding their incomes, as cocoa remains one of Ghana’s key export commodities.
The statement indicated that purchases for the 2026 Light Crop Season will begin on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Under the new pricing structure, cocoa will be bought at GH¢1,241.76 per load of 30 kilogrammes for Grade I and II beans. A 64-kilogramme bag will remain GH¢2,587.00, while a tonne of cocoa, equivalent to 16 bags, will continue to attract GH¢41,392.00.
COCOBOD said maintaining the current producer price reflects government’s commitment to ensuring stability in the cocoa sector and boosting farmer confidence ahead of the new season.
The directive has been communicated to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs), COCOBOD management, relevant ministries, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth nationwide rollout of cocoa purchases.
