Government has reached an agreement with Adamus Resources Limited to implement a 12-month roadmap aimed at turning around the company’s mining operations and resolving an ongoing dispute between the two parties.
According to a statement from the Presidency, a six-member management team comprising three representatives from Adamus Resources and three from the government will be established to supervise the turnaround of the mine.
The agreement followed a meeting at the Presidency aimed at resolving the dispute and safeguarding one of Ghana’s few operating indigenous large-scale mining companies.
The roadmap will include measures to settle outstanding liabilities owed by Adamus Resources to the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), financial institutions, and suppliers.
It will also explore options for injecting fresh capital into the mining operation, including the possibility of bringing in additional partners to take up equity in the company.
The government said the two sides are expected to present the detailed roadmap to the Presidency within two weeks.
The development has been welcomed by the Ghana Chamber of Mines, which described the agreement as a significant step towards resolving the impasse and preserving a productive mining asset.
