Nii Lante Vanderpuye apologizes to Sammy Gyamfi over Goldbod comments.

National Chairman aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has apologized to Goldbod CEO Sammy Gyamfi over comments he made during a media discussion about operations of Goldbod.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, the former MP for Odododiodio acknowledged he did not communicate his intended position in the manner he should have.

“I wish to sincerely apologize for my comments during my presentation on Citi TV this morning. Having had the opportunity to listen carefully to myself and reflect on the discussion, I acknowledge that I did not communicate my intended position in the manner I should have. I take full responsibility for that,” he said.

According to him, it was never his intention to condemn the Goldbod CEO or lend support to the attacks being directed at Mr. Gyamfi and the NDC. He stressed that his conviction and commitment to the NDC would not permit him to knowingly strengthen the hands of political opponents against the party and its members.

Mr. Vanderpuye said he intended to defend the Goldbod and its CEO during the discussion, admitting, however, that he expressed himself poorly in the process.

“Unfortunately, in reacting to the sustained propaganda and attacks surrounding the matter, I expressed myself in a way that created a completely different impression. For that error of judgement and communication, I am sincerely sorry,” he stressed.

The former minister of sports extolled the virtues and contributions of Sammy Gyamfi, describing him as a “dedicated member… who has served the NDC courage and commitment over the years.”

According to him, the Goldbod CEO deserves the support of all members of the party as he carries out the responsibility entrusted to him.

He added that the observations he may have had should not have been expressed in a way that could be seen as validating the opposition’s attack on Mr. Gyamfi.

Mr. Vanderpuye also apologized to the NDC leadership, members, and grassroots who were disappointed or hurt by his comments.

“I also apologize to the leadership, members, and, particularly, the grassroots of our great party who were disappointed or hurt by my comments. I understand their concerns,” he added.

The aspirant further reiterated his commitment to the NDC, emphasizing his lifelong support for the party.

“I have spent a significant part of my political life standing and fighting for the NDC, including through extremely difficult personal and political circumstances. My commitment to this party and its people remains absolute,” he stated.
