The Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has appealed to striking staff of the facility to return to work and continue providing healthcare services to patients.
In a statement addressed to staff on Sunday, Dr. Baidoo thanked workers for their support and solidarity during the ongoing impasse but urged them to prioritise the welfare of patients and the nation.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all staff of the hospital for your show of solidarity with me during this period. I am very grateful for your support,” he stated.
The KATH CEO, however, called on staff to resume their duties in the interest of patients while awaiting further direction from the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the hospital’s governing board.
He stressed the need for healthcare services at the facility to continue uninterrupted, given the critical role KATH plays as a major referral hospital serving the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country.
The appeal comes amid industrial action by some staff members following recent developments at the hospital, raising concerns about the continuity of healthcare delivery.
Dr. Baidoo indicated that he would abide by the decisions and guidance of the Health Minister and the KATH Board as efforts continue to resolve the situation.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the government and the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
The appeal is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to restore normal operations at the hospital and ensure that patients continue to receive essential medical care.
