Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will be number 1 on the ballot for the January 31, 2026 Presidential Primary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). Ken’s team picked the number 1 position when the party held official balloting exercise to determine the order in which its presidential aspirants will appear on the ballot paper for the party’s upcoming exercise. Another leading contender; the 2024 Presidential Candidate for the party and former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be number 3 on the ballot
According to a statement issued by the party’s Presidential Elections Committee on October 10, the standings of the five aspirants who will contest the flagbearership race are below after the balloting:
1. Ken Ohene Agyapong
2. Dr Bryan Acheampong
3. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
4. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum
5. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
The exercise was conducted in collaboration with officials from the Electoral Commission (EC).
The committee expressed gratitude to all aspirants, their representatives, and EC officials for their cooperation and decorum during the event.
In the statement, the Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee, William Yamoah, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic values and fairness.
“The New Patriotic Party remains steadfast in its resolve to conduct a transparent, credible and peaceful presidential primary as we prepare to elect a flagbearer for the 2026 general elections,” he said.
