Member of Parliament to Tamale North and Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways Alhassan Suhuyini has sent a cryptic message persons who can be described as his political detractors. The deputy minister has been in the news recently for receiving support from the Sammy Awuku led NLA’s Good Causes Foundation for a project in his constituency according a report by The Fourth Estate.
Taking to Facebook, Mr. Suhuyini related to negative comments from some individuals within and without his constituency over the years about his political career.
“He can’t survive as MP because JM has lost the presidency. We shall see how he will handle being MP. He is arrogant and will even crush earlier than expected, he’s fighting the NPP too much and not even listening to his seniors in parliament, he’s embarrassing Tamale North. With that attitude he can’t lobby for development from the NPP appointees/government? He will be a one term MP.” He wrote
“He mustn’t go unopposed, it is his first term. We cannot allow that to happen. It will sweet him too much. Yes but he’s not the one bringing the development projects and making the interventions. They’re NGOs etc, helping, can’t you see some rich financiers in Accra are even giving him money to support other constituencies? As if, as for their political mentors, they print money for what they do. ” Mr. Suhuyini recounted
He questioned the basis for these negative assertions peddled against him. He described The Fourth Estate publication which named him a beneficiary of the NLA Good Causes Foundation donation as misguided.
“This time around(2024) we have been told to allow him to go unopposed. We would’ve wasted his time again to get candidates to contest him even if to just get 5% of votes. Despite point 2, on @The Fourth Estate’s misguided publication, they say; we now know! it was the NPP appointees funding and helping him all along.”
Alhassan Suhuyini however indicated other politicians including Tamale South MP and Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu have suffered similar allegations but still “survived”
“My big brother Hon Haruna Iddrisu and others haven’t been spared such allegations but they survived and so we shall! In sha Allah! They know it is His Grace, they just don’t understand why. Don’t be a threat until they’re!”
