Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Abla Dzifa Gomashie has led the people of Ketu South in the Volta Region to plant 200 coconut trees. The exercise which took place alongĀ the coast of Agavedzi is in commemoration of the World Tourism Day 2025. The community has been ravaged by tidal waves displaying hundreds of people. President Mahama recently cut sod for the phase two of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project to address the situation.
The Minister for Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts who is also the MP for Ketu South led the exercise along with the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, emphasizing that coconut trees have cultural and economic value to coastal communities, calling it āfamily wealth.ā
She described the exercise as āplanting wealth in the community,ā linking it to the blue economy and the untapped tourism potential along Ghanaās coastline.
Agavedzi, a community affected by tidal waves, was chosen to raise awareness about climate change and promote local action.
