The Deputy Commissioner of Immigration and Head of Training at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Headquarterss, DCOI Francis Palmdeti, has charged newly trained recruits, Intake 30 to uphold the peace and security of Ghana through discipline, vigilance, and dedication to duty.
Addressing 1,479 recruits at a colorful passing out ceremony held at the Mid-Country Immigration Training School in Tepa, Ahafo Ano North Municipality, DCOI Palmdeti underscored the critical role of immigration officers in safeguarding national borders. He emphasized that the responsibility of maintaining Ghana’s boarder security rests squarely on their shoulders.
“Peace and security of Ghana rest in your hands,” he declared, urging the recruits to take their duties seriously. “Proper surveillance at the borders is essential. Any act of negligence can jeopardize national security. You must remain disciplined, tactful, and committed at all times.”
As the Reviewing Officer of the event DCOI Palmdeti further warned of rising insecurity across the Sahel region, cautioning that threats were inching closer to Ghana. He stressed that the tact and professionalism of the Immigration Service would be central to protecting the country and preserving its global image.
The recruits, who completed eight months of rigorous training, were equipped with skills in physical drills, document fraud detection, border patrol operations, and the history of the Ghana Immigration Service.
DCOI Palmdeti commended the school’s management, led by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Mary Owusu, for their dedication to shaping the next generation of immigration officers. He also encouraged the recruits to carry discipline and courage throughout their careers.

The ceremony was marked by impressive drills and a march-past by the graduating officers. Some outstanding recruits were recognized for their excellence:

- Best in Drills (Male) – Kyere Stephen Gyeabour
- Best in Drills (Female) – Owusu Richaida
- Best in Physical Training (Male) – Welbeck Acquaye Daniel
- Best in Physical Training (Female) – Danlo Kullah Susana
- Best in Academics – Solomon Akwei Pappoe
- Most Disciplined and Hardworking – David Atitsogbui
The event drew high-profile attendees, including Regional Commanders of Immigration from Ashanti, Bono, and Ahafo, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano North, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh, and the Paramount Chief of the Tepa Traditional Council, Nana Adusei Antwenewa Apem I.
This ceremony marks the second of its kind since the training school was established four years ago, reinforcing its growing importance in the national security architecture.
