The total amount paid by the Government of Ghana to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) has reached GH¢41.36 billion since 2025.
This follows the latest payment of GH¢10.82 billion, which was announced by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The Ministry said the latest transaction represents the third DDEP coupon payment to be made fully in cash.
It added that the payment was made in full and on schedule, describing the development as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to meeting its debt obligations.
The Ministry said timely servicing of the restructured domestic debt would help strengthen investor confidence, reduce sovereign default risk, and reinforce Ghana’s financial credibility.
The DDEP was introduced as part of Ghana’s broader debt restructuring efforts, with domestic bondholders participating in the exchange of their existing securities for new instruments.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Finance assured bondholders, investors, and the public that all future DDEP obligations would also be paid in full and according to schedule.
