Zoomlion commits resources to support two-day national clean-up exercise.

Waste management company Zoomlion Ghana Limited has committed resources to support the upcoming clean-up exercise in seven regions affected by the recent floods.

The two-day exercise, scheduled to take place on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, forms part of efforts to mobilize citizens to clean communities following last week’s devastating floods, which claimed lives and displaced thousands of people across parts of the country.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Zoomlion said it is activating all its regional, district, and municipal offices to support Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and affected communities.

According to the statement, Zoomlion will deploy sanitation personnel, waste collection trucks, skip containers, compactors, and other heavy-duty equipment to support the exercise.

Its operations will include the evacuation and safe disposal of collected waste and silt; desilting drains and waterways; sweeping roads, markets, lorry parks, and other public spaces; as well as disinfecting flood-affected areas to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks.

The company also pledged to provide operational and technical support to MMDAs and other stakeholders throughout the exercise.

Beyond the two-day campaign, Zoomlion said it will continue working with the relevant authorities where necessary to help restore affected communities to safe and healthy conditions.

While commending President Mahama for what it described as a “bold, timely and decisive intervention,” the company said the recent floods underscored the need for collective action to improve environmental sanitation and prevent future disasters.

“The devastating floods have once again reminded us that environmental sanitation is a shared national responsibility. Preventing future disasters requires sustained collaboration among government institutions, private sector organizations, traditional authorities, civil society, and every Ghanaian citizen,” the statement said.
