At least 12 people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving a commercial minibus and a trailer at Nkenkensu in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the Kumasi–Techiman highway when the passenger minibus travelling from Kumasi reportedly collided head-on with an oncoming trailer heading in the opposite direction.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of the minibus attempted to overtake another vehicle but veered into the lane of the oncoming trailer, resulting in the fatal impact.
Medical officials at the Nkenkensu Government Hospital confirmed that 12 passengers were pronounced dead on arrival, while two other occupants who survived the crash are in critical condition and receiving treatment.
An eyewitness, Eric Twumasi Frimpong, told GHOne News that the accident occurred around 2:00 p.m., adding that emergency response was delayed.
“It took more than an hour before an ambulance arrived to transport the injured victims to the hospital,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Nkenkensu Government Hospital morgue for identification and preservation.
The incident adds to growing concerns about road safety in Ghana, particularly reckless overtaking and delayed emergency response on major highways.
