DVLA extends service hours to 10pm at 15 offices under 24-hour economy drive

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to extend its operational hours at selected offices nationwide in a move aimed at improving access to services and reducing congestion at its centres.

Under the new arrangement, which takes effect from Monday, May 4, 2026, a total of 15 DVLA offices will operate until 10:00 pm through a structured two-shift system. The initiative is expected to offer greater flexibility for motorists and clients who are unable to access services during regular working hours.

The affected offices are located in Narhman (near Haatso), Weija, Tema, Bolgatanga, Wa, Tamale, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, Techiman, Kumasi, Winneba, and Tarkwa.

In a statement, the Authority said the decision forms part of efforts to improve service delivery while aligning with government’s broader 24-hour economy policy aimed at boosting productivity and expanding access to essential public services.

DVLA encouraged the public to take advantage of the extended hours to conduct business directly at its offices, noting that the measure is also intended to reduce the influence of middlemen and improve transparency in service delivery.

It further indicated that all payments made after 5:00 pm will be processed strictly through electronic channels, urging clients to prepare accordingly when accessing late-hour services.

The Authority appealed for patience and cooperation as it works toward full implementation of a 24-hour service framework across its centres, adding that the reforms are part of a broader effort to modernise operations and improve customer experience nationwide.
