Education Ministry assures transparency and fairness in CSSPS as parents flood correction centres

The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise is conducted with transparency, fairness, integrity, and accountability, as parents and their wards continue to throng the corrections centres.

The assurance comes amid concerns over the circulation of allegedly manipulated CSSPS placement slips on social media, with claims that the ministry has changed the placement results of some students.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the Ministry described the claims as false and misleading and urged parents, guardians, and students to rely only on placement information obtained through official CSSPS channels.

The Ministry said preliminary internal verification had established that some of the placement slips being circulated did not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform.

It explained that the barcodes and QR codes on the purported placement slips did not match the placement information presented on the documents being circulated as evidence of alleged changes.

The Ministry further said its system and audit logs did not support the claims being made by individuals circulating the materials.

According to the Ministry, the evidence available indicates that the affected documents had been digitally manipulated or otherwise altered to create the impression that students’ placements had been changed.

It described the circulation of the altered documents as a serious attempt to undermine public confidence in the CSSPS placement process and create unnecessary confusion and anxiety among students, parents and guardians.

The matter has consequently been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation and appropriate action.

Parents continue to seek placement corrections.

Meanwhile, parents are flooding corrections centers seeking changes to the placement of their wards as the exercise enters its fourth day.

The Teachers’ Hall in Accra, which is serving as the reposting and corrections centre, remains inundated with parents and their wards.

Accranews checks indicate that the most common request from affected persons has been the change of Day Student status to Boarding.

Parents say many students have been placed in day schools located far from their homes, raising concerns about the cost and practicality of transporting them to and from school every day.

For affected families, the daily transportation costs could place a significant financial burden on parents who are already preparing to meet other expenses associated with their children’s secondary education.

Ministry reiterates commitment.

Despite the concerns surrounding some placements and the circulation of allegedly manipulated documents, the Ministry has assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring that the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise is conducted in accordance with the principles of transparency, fairness, integrity, and accountability.

It also assured parents, guardians, and students that legitimate concerns regarding placement would be duly investigated through the appropriate channels.

The Ministry has therefore urged the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips or claims on social media.
