CLOGSAG Begins Indefinite Nationwide Strike Over Delayed Implementation of Conditions of Service

Accra – Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) have commenced an indefinite nationwide strike today, Monday, March 9, 2026, protesting what the association describes as prolonged delays in the implementation of their agreed conditions of service.

The industrial action is expected to impact operations across ministries, departments, agencies, and local government offices nationwide, where CLOGSAG members form a significant part of the administrative workforce.

The strike comes despite a directive from the National Labour Commission, ordering the association to suspend the planned industrial action and return to negotiations. However, CLOGSAG leadership has instructed its members to defy the directive, arguing that the government has failed to respond adequately to their concerns.

Speaking to Accra’m-based  Citi FM, CLOGSAG Public Relations Officer Edmund Aquaye said:

“Since last Thursday, when we announced the strike, the National Assembly Council of CLOGSAG has still not heard anything from our employer. For that matter, our strike is still on. We are entreating all CLOGSAG members, wherever they are, not to go to work on March 9. We are dealing with our employer and we expect that our employer should be communicating with us.”

The association emphasized that the delay in implementing their agreed conditions of service has created frustration among members, who feel their welfare and working conditions have not received the attention required.

CLOGSAG’s action is likely to disrupt administrative operations across the country until the government engages meaningfully with the association to address their demands.
