Three Arrested Over Mob Killing of Liberian National in Lashibi; Police Hunt Fourth Suspect

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with the death of 26-year-old Liberian national Austin Tengbeh, who was attacked by a mob at an apartment complex in Lashibi near Sakumono on Friday, February 27, 2026. The suspects — Vincent Adzikah (38), Francis Amuzu (44), and William Addison (34) — are assisting police investigations, while a fourth suspect, Enoch Mensah, remains at large. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, March 2, 2026.

Preliminary reports indicate Tengbeh had visited his brother when the apartment caretaker accused him of theft. Residents reportedly descended on him in an act of mob justice. Police arrived promptly and rushed Tengbeh to Sakumono Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been deposited at Lashibi Funeral Home for autopsy.

The police have warned the public against taking the law into their own hands and urged reporting of suspected crimes through official channels to ensure due process.

The Government of Liberia confirmed that its embassy in Accra was informed immediately and has been liaising with Ghanaian authorities. Efforts are underway to engage Tengbeh’s next of kin and provide consular support. The Liberian government extended condolences to the family and the broader community, calling the incident tragic and urging Liberians in Ghana to remain calm while investigations continue.

Tengbeh’s family has demanded justice for his killing, calling for all involved to be held accountable. Police investigations remain ongoing.
