A new nationwide survey by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) shows strong public approval for President John Dramani Mahama’s performance but deep anxiety over the rising cost of living.
The poll, conducted in December 2025 and involving more than 1,000 respondents across all regions of Ghana, found that 68 percent of Ghanaians approve of President Mahama’s performance so far.
Only 22 percent of respondents disapprove, while 10 percent expressed no opinion.
Despite the high approval ratings, the survey reveals widespread socioeconomic concerns.
Seven out of ten Ghanaians, representing 71 percent, expressed strong concern about the rising prices of food and consumer goods.
In total, 91 percent of respondents indicated at least some level of concern about the cost of living, underscoring the economic pressures facing households across the country.
The findings suggest that while many Ghanaians remain confident in the President’s leadership, economic hardship—particularly inflation and rising consumer prices—remains a dominant concern for citizens.
