Mahama to host Gabonese President for three-day official visit

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to host the President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, for a three-day official visit to Ghana from July 28 to 30, 2026, as the two countries seek to strengthen their longstanding bilateral relations.

According to the Presidency, the visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to assess existing areas of cooperation and identify new avenues for collaboration across several sectors.

President Mahama and President Oligui Nguema will begin the visit with a tête-à-tête meeting before holding official bilateral talks at Jubilee House.

Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, mining, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, maritime affairs, transport, and tourism.

Other areas to be explored include education, health, defence and security, environmental protection, climate action, and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit is also expected to reaffirm the commitment of Ghana and Gabon to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing sustainable economic development through closer cooperation.

The Presidency said the engagement underscores the shared resolve of both countries to deepen their partnership and explore opportunities that will deliver mutual benefits for their citizens.
