The February 4–6 event was disrupted by incidents GES described as serious misconduct. The ban, effective February 11, 2026, prevents the schools from organizing, participating in, or spectating sports, quizzes, debates, cadetting, and entertainment programmes at school, zonal, and regional levels.
In a statement signed by Eastern Regional Director of Education Dr. Ivy Asantewa Owusu, GES said the sanctions were applied under Section 2.17 of the GES Code of Conduct and the Eastern Region Schools and Colleges Sports Association Code of Discipline. Each school has also been fined GH¢500 and will cover costs related to property damage or injuries.
GES Headquarters earlier confirmed reports of a stabbing and an alleged rape linked to the competition.
A SECTECH student was reportedly stabbed near the venue while out for lunch and has since been treated and discharged. One suspect is in police custody.
In a separate case, a female student of Osino Senior High School was allegedly raped near the competition grounds. Two suspects have been arrested, while a third — said to be an old student — is on the run. The victim has received medical care and counselling
