Ghana Pursues Russian National Over Alleged Non-Consensual Sex Videos

The Government of Ghana has launched efforts to pursue a Russian national accused of secretly recording and sharing explicit videos of Ghanaian women without their consent.

The videos, which surfaced on social media earlier this month, reportedly show intimate encounters allegedly filmed without the knowledge of the women involved. The content quickly went viral, triggering public outrage and widespread condemnation over privacy violations and sexual exploitation.

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, confirmed that authorities are building a case against the suspect. He described the alleged conduct as criminal and a serious breach of Ghana’s laws and the dignity of the victims.

Under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020, the non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate images or videos is a criminal offense punishable by fines and imprisonment.

Although reports suggest the suspect may have left Ghana, the government says it will pursue international cooperation, including assistance from Interpol, to ensure accountability.

Authorities have also cautioned the public against sharing the videos, warning that redistribution of explicit content without consent may itself constitute a crime.
