State Housing Company Limited Gives 21-Day Ultimatum to Encroachers

The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has issued a final 21-day notice to individuals and entities occupying or developing its lands without authorization to cease all activities and report for verification.

Following a nationwide land audit, SHC says it uncovered widespread encroachment on its properties, undermining its mandate to provide affordable housing. The directive, issued in collaboration with the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, forms part of efforts to safeguard state assets

Encroachers are required to stop development immediately and apply for regularization where applicable. After the deadline, SHC warns it will pursue legal action, demolish unauthorized structures, and recover affected lands.

The Company cited the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036), noting that unauthorized occupation of state lands constitutes a criminal and civil offense.SHC also urged the public to verify all land transactions directly with the Company to avoid losses.
