Kpandai MP Appeals Court-Ordered Rerun

Lawyers representing Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, have filed an appeal and a stay of execution at the Appeal Court following a High Court ruling ordering a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary seat. On November 24, 2025, the High Court in Tamale ordered the rerun over alleged breaches of Regulations 39 and 43 of the Public Elections Regulations (CI 127).

The judgment on the rerun is expected on Friday. However, the MP has expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling and his legal team plans to file a supplementary appeal.

Nyindam insists that nothing untoward occurred during the election in Kpandai. He maintains that he won fairly and squarely, with a margin of 3,734 votes, attributing his victory to the confidence the electorate has in him.

Speaking to Lily Mohammed on GHOne TV’s GHToday, the Ranking Member on the Information and Communications –  accused the embattled NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, of attempting to subvert the rule of law by using state apparatus. Nyindam said, “I lost to him in 2020, but the constituents rejected him and brought me back. I was in government and lost the seat to him, but the NPP could have done to him what he is trying to do to me now. However, I successfully handed over to him.”

Despite the legal challenges, Nyindam remains confident of winning the seat should a rerun take place, stating, “The people of Kpandai know who I am and who he is.”

He hopes the Appeal Court will thoroughly examine the matter, saying, “We pray and hope that the integrity of our democracy will be upheld to the highest esteem.”
