The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has described the passing of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings as the loss of a mother who embodied the values of equality, tolerance, and inclusivity.
Paying tribute to her memory, the Foreign Minister hailed her as a larger-than-life figure whose legacy of empowerment and advocacy for the voiceless will never be forgotten.
According to an official statement issued by the family on Thursday, October 23, the former First Lady passed away at the Ridge Hospital after a short illness. The government has since declared three days of mourning, with flags flown at half-mast.
On the sidelines of a flag-hoisting ceremony in Accra to mark the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the Foreign Minister led the diplomatic community to honor the former first lady’s memory and observe a minute of silence for Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady.
