Political Communications Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Mohammed Tawfik Adamu, has cast doubt on the United Party’s prospects of becoming a significant third force or winning power in the upcoming 2028 elections. This follows the party’s recent rebranding from the Movement for Change to the United Party.
Speaking to Starr News, the party’s Communications Director, Solomon Owusu, expressed confidence in securing victory in both the presidential and parliamentary polls.
“What I can assure you is that in 2028, the United Party will field parliamentary candidates in all 275 constituencies. The response we have received across the country will blow your mind,” Owusu declared.
However, Mohammed Tawfik Adamu remained skeptical, insisting that former candidate Alan Kyeremanten and his United Party are unlikely to break the long-standing duopoly.
“Alan Kyeremanten contested in the last elections and was not a third force. I think even Cheddar received more votes than Alan Kyeremanten… I don’t believe he will be the third force,” Adamu said.
Meanwhile, Acting Executive Director of the Complementary Education Agency, Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah, advised the party’s flagbearer to focus on the benefits he can offer Ghanaians rather than targeting his political opponents.
