The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Mohammed Issah Bataglia, has officially launched the Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS), an initiative designed to provide scholarships and skills training opportunities for students, artisans and individuals interested in technical and vocational education.
The primary goal of the BESS initiative is to promote education and skills development across the Sissala East constituency.
The scheme is particularly focused on supporting needy but brilliant students, as well as individuals seeking to acquire employable skills through technical and vocational training.
In a show of personal commitment to the cause, Mr. Bataglia announced a donation of GH¢300,000 to the fund. His contribution was complemented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who donated GH¢50,000. Additionally, support from the general public came in through silver collections and pledges, amounting to GH¢3,895.

The scheme also received backing from various community groups and leaders. Chief Sanda Kodimah made an undisclosed donation, while the Youth Movement of the NDC in Sissala Land contributed GH¢1,000 to the fund.A native of Sissala East Mr. Mumuni Samyuri also pleged an amount of 30, 000 cedis in support of BESS.
The event was well-attended and marked by a strong spirit of unity and commitment to educational advancement. Traditional leaders, opinion leaders, residents and representatives of various political and social groups were present to lend their support and witness the historic launch.
Mr. Bataglia, in his address, stressed the importance of education and skills training in transforming the socio-economic fortunes of the constituency. He called on well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies and development partners to support the initiative, stressing that “investing in people is the surest way to build a resilient and self-sufficient community.”
The launch of BESS signals a significant step toward inclusive development in Sissala East, with the potential to empower young people and equip them with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
