Dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has regained his freedom after satisfying revised bail conditions set by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The artiste, who had spent nearly two days in custody, was released on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after EOCO reduced his original bail terms from GH₵10 million to GH₵5 million, with two sureties required.
Confirming the development, his lawyer, Cephas Boyuo, explained that Shatta Wale is also mandated to report to EOCO three times a week while investigations continue into his acquisition of a Lamborghini Urus.
The luxury vehicle, seized in June during a joint EOCO-FBI operation, has been flagged by U.S. authorities as linked to financial crimes involving Ghanaian national Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the United States.
EOCO revealed that during questioning, Shatta Wale could not provide details of the vehicle’s seller, stating only that he purchased it “from the street.”
Despite his release, Shatta Wale remains a person of interest in the ongoing international probe, with EOCO stressing that further cooperation will be required as the case unfolds.
