What was supposed to be a joyful Christmas night out turned into a traumatic experience for two young women who were allegedly lured into a robbery by people they trusted.
Faustina Wegah, a fashion designer, and Angela Nartey, a beautician, had planned to spend the evening of December 25, 2025, celebrating. According to police reports, Angela received a message from a driver, identified as Cephas Sisiawovor Bubune, who invited her out. She agreed and invited Faustina to join her.
At about 9:45 p.m., Cephas reportedly arrived at Adade Junction in a Toyota saloon car with another man known only as Kobby. The women were told they were heading to Dwowulu in Accra. However, along the way, Cephas allegedly diverted the journey toward CP, a suburb of Kasoa, claiming they were going to pick up a friend.
Their suspicions deepened when the vehicle stopped and several other men suddenly emerged, all allegedly armed with knives. The group reportedly attacked and robbed the two women of two iPhones, two keypad mobile phones, and GH¢2,235 in cash.
During the struggle, Faustina sustained knife wounds to her palms while attempting to resist the attackers. The assailants later abandoned the victims at an uncompleted building near the Mother and Child Hospital at CP before driving off.
After receiving medical treatment, the victims reported the incident to police on January 10, 2026. Following investigations, Detective Lance Corporal Baamaala Jacob of the Central-East Police Command in Kasoa arrested Cephas on January 13, 2026, at Freetown, Kasoa.
Police investigations revealed that the robbery was allegedly premeditated. The stolen iPhones were traced to a trader, Ofori Boateng, who was arrested the following day. He told investigators he bought the phones for GH¢3,500 and GH¢2,500, claiming he was unaware they were stolen.
Cephas Sisiawovor Bubune and Ofori Boateng have since been charged and arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the other suspects who remain at large.
