Volta Region Police Reject GHC182K Bribe, Arrest Two for Suspected Narcotics Trafficking

The Volta North Regional Police have arrested two men for suspected narcotics trafficking after they attempted to bribe officers with GHC182,000.

The suspects, Etornam Vumadzi, a driver, and Emmanuel Komlagah, were apprehended on Friday, January 30, 2026, while transporting the suspected narcotics from Godenu toward Togo. A third party, identified only as Joseph, was also involved in attempting to facilitate the bribe.

According to police, the suspects first offered GHC32,000 to secure their release, while Joseph reportedly added another GHC150,000. All offers were firmly rejected.

A search of the vehicle — a Toyota minibus with registration GT-6592-19 — uncovered eighteen sacks containing 648 yellow oval parcels suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations. They are expected to be charged in court. Inspector Felix Kwao, Public Relations Officer for the Volta North Region, commended the officers for their integrity in rejecting the bribe.
