The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz have mutually agreed to terminate his contract following discussions between the two parties.
The GFA announced the decision in a statement issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The circumstances surrounding the termination have not been fully disclosed, but the decision comes after Ghana’s recent defeats in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars lost 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia.
In a statement, Carlos Queiroz said both parties agreed that ending their professional relationship was the most appropriate decision under the circumstances.
He thanked the GFA, its President Kurt Okraku, his technical staff, the Black Stars players and Ghanaians for their support.
Queiroz also urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the Black Stars, saying the team has the talent and potential to achieve great things.
