A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oti Region, Annie Oppong, has officially declared her bid for the position of Women’s Organiser for the Biakoye Constituency, promising stronger grassroots mobilisation, women’s empowerment and greater party unity as she seeks to reposition the constituency’s women’s wing for sustained electoral success.
Campaigning under the theme “A Voice, Not an Echo,” Madam Oppong says her leadership will prioritise inclusiveness, grassroots engagement and practical empowerment programmes that directly improve the lives of women across the constituency.

Her campaign message, “Papapaaa Nie,” is anchored on three pillars—Empowering Women, Building Communities and Delivering Change—which she describes as the foundation of her vision for the women’s wing.
Addressing party members, the hopeful appealed to delegates to entrust her with the mandate to serve, promising to be a leader who listens, represents every voice and works tirelessly to strengthen the NDC from the grassroots.
“I seek your mandate not merely to occupy a position, but to serve as your voice. Together, we can build a stronger women’s wing, mobilise effectively for the party and create opportunities that empower every woman in Biakoye,” she emphasised.
Madam Oppong enters the race with an impressive blend of academic excellence, public service experience and extensive political organisation, attributes that supporters believe make her well-positioned to lead the constituency’s women’s wing.
She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Sikkim Manipal University, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and a Diploma in Basic Education from the Dambai College of Education.
Professionally, she currently serves with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) at its Nkwanta Regional Office in the Oti Region, where she contributes to environmental governance and sustainable development initiatives.
Before joining the EPA, she built a distinguished career in education, serving as the Biakoye District Girls’ Education Officer, where she championed programmes promoting girls’ digital safety, STEM education and menstrual hygiene awareness. She also worked as a School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) with the Ghana Education Service in the Nkonya Ahenkro Circuit and taught at Kefe Memorial E.P. Junior High School at Tapa Abotoase in the Biakoye District.
Her passion for youth development and community service further earned her the role of Oti Regional Commissioner of the Ghana Girl Guides Association, where she mentored young girls and promoted leadership, discipline and civic responsibility.
Within the NDC, Annie Oppong has built an extensive record of dedicated service across several structures of the party.
She is a member of both the Oti Regional Women’s Wing Working Committee and the Oti Regional Youth Wing Working Committee, where she serves as Deputy Director of Research, Innovation and Policies. She also serves as Deputy Oti Regional Women Commissioner of the NDC Teachers Forum and represents the region within the Gallant Cadres of the NDC.
Her contributions at the constituency level include serving as District Coordinator of the NDC Teachers Forum, District Coordinator of the 31st December Women’s Movement, a member of the Constituency Communication Team, and as a Certified Desktop Constituency Officer during the 2024 general elections. She is also a Communication Team Member of the NDC Professional Forum for Women Commissioners, further demonstrating her commitment to strengthening the party’s organisational structures.
Political observers believe her combination of professional expertise, grassroots experience and long-standing commitment to the party positions her as a formidable contender for the Women’s Organiser position.
As the NDC prepares for its internal elections, Annie Oppong says her campaign is driven by a commitment to unite members, empower women and deepen grassroots mobilisation. She believes a vibrant and inclusive women’s wing will be instrumental in consolidating the party’s support base and advancing the NDC’s electoral prospects in the Biakoye Constituency.
With delegates set to choose the next Women’s Organiser, Madam Oppong is calling for their support, assuring them of leadership anchored on service, inclusivity, innovation and results. Her vision, she says, is to build a stronger women’s wing that amplifies the voices of women, nurtures future leaders and delivers lasting change for the party and the people of Biakoye.
