NPA announces October fuel price floors; petrol at GH¢16.09, diesel at GH¢17.09

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced new minimum price floors for five petroleum products for the October 16–31, 2026 pricing window.

Under the new pricing guidelines, petrol has a minimum price of GH¢16.09 per litre, while diesel is pegged at GH¢17.09 per litre.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has a minimum price of GH¢13.87 per kilogram, while Marine Gas Oil (MGO) for the local market is set at GH¢17.20 per litre.

Kerosene has the highest minimum price among the five products, at GH¢17.45 per litre.

The new price floors were announced in a notice issued by the NPA on October 12, 2026, as part of its guidelines for petroleum product pricing during the second half of the month.

The Authority said the minimum prices are to guide Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) in their pricing decisions for the period.

“As per the Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines (PPPG), all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) are entreated to comply with the above price floors for the window under consideration,” the notice stated.

However, the minimum price floors do not represent the final prices consumers will necessarily pay at the pump, as they exclude certain premiums and operating margins.

“The price floors exclude the premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs) and the operating margins of BIDECs, as well as the Marketers’ and Dealers’ Margins of OMCs/LPGMCs. These will be independently determined by the companies as pertains under the PPPG,” the NPA added.
