Ghanaian petitions IGP after GH¢100,000 allegedly stolen from car at Stanbic Bank Legon branch

A Ghanaian citizen, Roonie Afriyie, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu, over the alleged theft of GH¢100,000 from his vehicle while it was parked at a Stanbic Bank branch.

According to Roonie, he had GH¢200,000 in the trunk of his vehicle and took GH¢100,000 into the bank to make a deposit.

He says that about 15 minutes later, he returned to the vehicle and discovered that the trunk had been broken into, the driver’s door was jammed, and the remaining GH¢100,000 was missing.

Roonie is also questioning the absence of CCTV cameras at the bank’s parking area, particularly because he says the vehicle was parked there on the direction of security personnel.

He further claims that although he reported the incident to the police, he has yet to see any tangible progress in the investigation.

Roonie has therefore petitioned the IGP, seeking intervention and answers over the alleged theft and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
