Miracles was arrested over investigations into GHS55M Theft at IMCCoD- EOCO

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has provided the basis for the arrest of the Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign Team Dennis Mircales Aboagye. According to statement from EOCO the arrest is in connection with investigations into GHS55 million procurement irregularities, misappropriation, misapplication and theft.

The former Executive Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) was arrested by EOCO officials at the Accra International Airport on Sunday July 12, 2026 upon his arrival from the United Kingdom.

Shortly after his arrest, the NPP demanded the immediate release of Mr. Aboagye

In the statement, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, alleged Miracles had been denied access to his lawyers and that his whereabouts were unknown.

The party described the development as an abuse of power and intimidation against a fierce critic of the Mahama administration.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s arrest came hours after he declared his intention to contest as the National Director of Communication for the NPP.

In a the statement EOCO revealed another person of interest Gerald Appiah who is former accountant for the IMCCoD turned himself in and has started returning what it describes as “loot”.

According to EOCO the two are under investigations for: Conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering.

The statement also revealed EOCO Officials led Miracles to search his residence after his arrest on Sunday and the search will continue today.
