The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong has confirmed that Reverend Father Samuel Adapore, whose whereabouts had sparked concern after he was reported missing, has been found at a police training facility.
According to reports, the priest was located at the Police Training Centre in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, where he is said to be undergoing training to become a police officer.
Rev. Fr. Adapore’s disappearance had raised questions after he reportedly left his pastoral duties and could not initially be reached by members of his diocese.
His discovery at the police training facility has since brought an unexpected twist to the situation, with reports indicating that he had been pursuing a transition from the priesthood into law enforcement.
The development comes amid reports that the priest had been suspended by the Catholic Diocese after leaving the diocese without authorisation and abandoning his pastoral responsibilities.
The case has attracted public attention because of the unusual circumstances surrounding his disappearance and his reported decision to pursue a career in the Ghana Police Service.
The development also follows the recent commissioning of another Ghanaian Catholic priest, Reverend Father Philip Yaw Nsobiabah, as a Navy officer after completing military training, highlighting instances of Catholic clergy combining priestly ministry with national service.
