The Government of Ghana has successfully rescued and repatriated 28 Ghanaians from Côte d’Ivoire after they reportedly fell victim to a sophisticated human trafficking network.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed that the victims had been lured with promises of travelling to Europe after allegedly paying huge sums of money to traffickers.
According to him, the victims have safely returned to Ghana following what he described as a special rescue operation.
Mr. Ablakwa assured that the Mahama administration remains committed to protecting Ghanaians in distress wherever they may be.
He also cautioned the youth to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to criminal trafficking syndicates operating under the guise of facilitating travel opportunities abroad.
The government says efforts are ongoing to clamp down on human trafficking networks and protect vulnerable citizens from exploitation.
