Accra, Ghana – The Grand Arena in Accra was alive with music and excitement on Saturday, 9 May 2026, as the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA 27) celebrated Ghana’s finest musical talents. The night belonged to Black Sherif, who repeated his 2023 success by taking home the prestigious Artiste of the Year award, alongside four other major honors.
The evening showcased intense competition, particularly between Black Sherif and Medikal. While Black Sherif secured awards such as Songwriter of the Year for Sacrifice and Best HipHop Song for Where Dem Boys, Medikal captured attention with four awards, including Best Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste and Most Popular Song of the Year for Shoulder featuring Shatta Wale & Beeztrap.

Other standout performers included Kofi Kinaata, winner of Best Highlife Song for It is Finished, and Moliy, whose international collaboration Shake It To The Max Remix with Shenseea, Skillibeng, and Silent Addy won International Collaboration of the Year. Rising star Kojo Blak was named Best New Artiste, marking him as a talent to watch in the coming year.
The awards also recognized exceptional contributions in gospel, with Diana Hamilton winning Best Gospel Artiste and Piesie Esther securing Best Traditional Gospel Song for Nyame Ye. Veteran musician Daddy Lumba was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating decades of musical influence.
The 27th TGMA highlighted the diversity and global reach of Ghanaian music, from Afrobeats and hip-hop to highlife and gospel. Fans and artists alike celebrated a night of creativity, collaboration, and record-breaking performances.
