The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency, Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, has constructed and commissioned a modern health facility for residents of Daadaagua in the Anomabo Traditional Area, in a bid to improve access to healthcare.
The project, completed within his first year in office, fulfills a key campaign promise and is fully equipped with modern medical equipment. It also includes staff accommodation to ensure 24-hour healthcare delivery.
The initiative was undertaken with support from the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arhin underscored the need for inclusive development, stating: “This project is a fulfillment of a promise I made to the good people of Mfantseman, and I am committed to ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to every community, regardless of its location.”
He added: “The decision to site this facility at Daadaagua was deliberate—to ensure that our brothers and sisters in rural areas receive the same standard of healthcare as those in urban centres. Development must be inclusive.”
A representative of the Church, Isaac K. Morrison, explained that their support for the project is rooted in humanitarian service, saying: “The leadership of our Church has taught us not to engage in humanitarian work for recognition, but to serve because Jesus Christ did the same when He came into the world.”
He further urged proper maintenance of the facility, adding: “One thing that will make us truly happy is to see this facility properly maintained so that it will last and continue to serve the people for many years.”
Meanwhile, Central Regional Deputy Health Director, Dr Agnes Achaah, noted that the facility will support efforts toward universal health coverage and urged residents to make good use of it.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Stanley Acquah, praised the initiative, stating: “This is not an assembly project; it is the MP’s own initiative… Today, he is fulfilling the health aspect.”
Paramount Chief of Anomabo, Kantamanto Amoanu XII, also welcomed the development, saying: “We are very happy to witness the establishment of this health facility in our traditional area. This is a significant step towards improving the well-being of our people.”
He, however, appealed for support to address water challenges, noting: “Water remains a major problem for our people… I humbly appeal… to find a lasting solution.”
The facility is expected to significantly ease access to healthcare for residents who previously travelled long distances to seek medical care.
