Baba Amando Arrest: Stay strong, resilient & defend democracy- Bawumia to NPP communicators

Former Vice President and 2028 NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has charged the party’s communicators to be unfazed by what he describes intimidation from the governing NDC and some state agents. Addressing a delegation of National, Regional, and Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party from the Bono Region who visted his residence to express their appreciation for his unwavering support during the unfortunate arrest and detention of Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, Dr. Bawumia condemned the use of state security to silence dissenting voices.

During the visit, Dr. Bawumia sent a clear and uncompromising message: the intimidation can never break us. He condemned what he described as the growing use of state security institutions by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to silence dissent and suppress free speech.
“Ghana’s democratic credentials are under attack. Freedom of expression is being sacrificed for political convenience.”

His call is simple but urgent: NPP communicators and members must stand firm, speak boldly, and resist any attempt to intimidate or silence them. He encouraged the NPP communicators to remain fact-driven and continue to keep the government on its toes without fear or favor.

National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party Henry Nana Boakye who led the delegation expressed his appreciation to the Flag bearer for the warm reception and assured him that communicators and functionaries of the party would remain resolute in the face of the intimidation by the John Mahama government.

Following the series of unwarranted arrests, the New Patriotic Party through the Sunyani East Constituency is organizing a demonstration dubbed ‘ YENSURO AHUNAHUNA DEMO’ on Wednesday 22nd April in Sunyani to register the party’s strongest protest against the government-sponsored attack on free speech and our democracy by President Mahama and his NDC.
