Two people have died and six others have been injured in a road accident at Akyem–Akooko along the Accra–Apedwa Highway in the Eastern Region.
The crash happened on Saturday, February 14, and involved a Kia truck and a Toyota Voxy vehicle. The road forms part of the busy highway linking Accra and Kumasi.

Preliminary reports say the collision led to the death of two people — a man and a woman — who reportedly died on the spot.

Six other victims suffered different degrees of injuries. They were quickly rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for emergency treatment.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to control traffic and clear the road to allow the smooth flow of vehicles.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased. Police have started investigations to find out the cause of the accident.
The Municipal Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for Abuakwa South, Ofori Aikins, confirmed the incident to the media and said the police are investigating the crash.
