Police have arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
The arrest was made by a special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno. The incident happened on 8th February 2026.
The suspect, Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, aged 42, was arrested on 10th February 2026. He was picked up during an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area in the Western Region.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident. Police later tracked him to the Western Region, where he was arrested.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with investigations. Police say he will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law. Efforts have also been intensified to arrest other suspects believed to be involved in the crime.
This arrest comes as government raises concerns over increasing attacks on security officers in Bawku and its environs.
