A Political Aide to 2024 New Patriotic Party running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and former Constituency Chairman for Fomena, Akwasi Nti has cautioned the newly elected flagbearer of the party His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, against changing him as his running mate.
The former NPP constituency chairman, who has been blamed for causing the defeat of the party in the 2020 parliamentary elections, is promising fire and brimstone if Dr. Bawumia presents any other nominee aside Dr. Napo as his running mate.
“Let Bawumia dare change Napo and he will see, how many times did Akufo-Addo select him for him to dump Napo on first account? Like he will see” a visibly angry Akwasi Nti shouted on Angel FM during a political show on Monday.
According to him, he and other loyalists of Dr Napo will make things very uncomfortable for Dr. Bawumia if he fails to heed their caution.
“We will never allow Bawumia to change Napo, he dares not!!” Akwasi Nti stated.
The video, which has since trended on various traditional and social media platforms, are also being shared by individuals closely associated with the former running mate.
What is even more worrying is that Akwasi Nti, who is currently advocating for the retention of Dr. Napo, is a sworn opponent of Dr. Bawumia in the just ended primaries.
He was the Campaign Coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong in the Adansi enclave and was involved in vile campaign against Dr. Bawumia.
Questions are now being raised why Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh failed to rain him in during his onslaught against Dr. Bawumia.
Since his elections two weeks ago, persons and groups loyal to the former running mate have virtually held Dr. Bawumia to a ransom, using threats and intimidation in their bid to make a case for the re-nomination of the former Energy Minister as the running mate.
Though Dr. Bawumia is keeping the decision of who will partner him for the 2028 general elections close to his chest, there have been clarion call for a rebrand, including effecting changes in the running mate slot with many not too impress with the outings of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
