The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned reports of violent and sexual misconduct during the recently concluded Super Zonal Sports Competition in the Eastern Region. The co-curricular event, held from February 4 to 6, was marred by a stabbing incident and an alleged gang rape involving students.
A student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School was stabbed near the competition venue, with students of New Juaben Senior High School reportedly involved. In a separate incident, a female student of Osino Senior High School was allegedly raped. Two suspects are in police custody, while a third suspect remains at large.
Both victims have received medical attention, with the female student also provided counselling and psychosocial support. The GES has stated that sanctions will be applied in line with its code of conduct and urged the public to remain calm as police investigations continue.
