The Adabraka District Court has remanded Christford Affadu Danful, also known as Ekow Black, into police custody over a viral assault video and fresh allegations of sextortion.
The Ghana Police Service said the suspect was arrested on Thursday, January 15, by the Criminal Investigation Department. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team after the video spread widely on social media.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Danful and the woman involved previously lived together. Police say their relationship was marked by repeated disagreements that escalated from verbal confrontations to physical assault.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the Police Service confirmed that the suspect was arraigned before the court on Friday, January 16, as investigations continue.
Presiding judge, Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered that Danful be remanded into police custody to allow investigators to complete their work.
The court directed that he reappear on Tuesday, January 21, 2026.
The remand follows public outcry over the viral video and additional allegations that the suspect threatened to circulate intimate images.
