Richard Cobbinah, popularly known as “Shaka Zulu” from the 2009 hit music video Fresh One by Ghanaian group 4×4, has been arrested again, this time in connection with alleged land guard activities in Accra.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Command detained Cobbinah along with five other suspects on January 10, 2026, following a distress call received at around 12:30 p.m at Trasacco. The group is suspected of involvement in land guarding and the unlawful possession of firearms.
in total, about 50 men were firing indiscriminately at construction workers. the Police seized an AK-47, a Luger T9 and a Ruger MC with ammunition during the operation.
Cobbinah’s criminal record dates back to 2010, shortly after gaining fame from the 4×4 music video. He was arrested for robbery and later sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2013. He was released in 2024 after serving a reduced sentence.
His latest arrest has sparked reactions on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing disappointment that the former video star has returned to criminal activity. Land guarding—the use of armed groups to illegally seize or protect disputed land—remains a persistent problem in Accra, prompting increased police enforcement.
The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
