The Super Eagles of Nigeria thrilled fans last night in Fes with a dominant 4-0 victory over Mozambique’s Mambas, securing their place in the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals.
Nigeria started strongly, with Victor Osimhen’s early goal ruled out for offside inside two minutes—a warning Mozambique failed to heed. In the 20th minute, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman curled a precise strike into the top corner, assisted by Akor Adams, putting Nigeria in control.

Nigeria continued to press relentlessly. Alex Iwobi made a clever run before releasing Lookman, whose low strike deflected off Adams to Osimhen, who scored his first goal of the night. Mozambique struggled to cope with Nigeria’s pace and dominance throughout the match.
In the second half, Lookman orchestrated play once again, sending a teasing cross to Osimhen who scored his second goal, extending Nigeria’s lead. Akor Adams sealed the win in the 75th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, making it 4-0.
Nigeria’s ruthless performance showcased their strength and depth as title contenders. The Super Eagles now await the winner of the Algeria vs DR Congo match, with the quarterfinal clash set for Marrakech on Saturday.
